Unscrupulous

Episode 27 - The Gippsland Kidnapping + Mother Teresa

Did Meatloaf's ballad speak to you? Would you do anything for love? This is what Julian Buchwald was banking on when he and his young girlfriend Carolynne Watson were kidnapped and left to survive in the Australian outback. Adam (he/him) tells us all about how the pair were left by a supposed Satanic cult with only a backpack to survive. Julian thinks that the solution to their dilemma is to ... get married? Hmmmm this is a real men are going to men tale.

Then Bec (they/them) tells us about the life and crimes of Mother Teresa. Nobel Peace Prize winning Catholic saint. Early in her life Teresa knew she wanted to dedicate her life to the church, but does this perhaps once noble quest lead her to become a money hungry, entitled, hypocrite?  You can decide. We seem to think it's a hard yes. Known for helping "the poorest of the poor" (just ask, she'd be the first to tell you) throughout her lifetime,  the nun did receive criticism before her death in 1997, but not enough to stop her from becoming a household name and wrongly associated with selflessness, kindness and being pious.
